** Some background**
Bilums are a cultural artefact of Papua New Guinea, and are significant to Papua New Guinean custom and way of life. Bilums vary in shape and colour based on what province they are from. Traditionally they are hand spun and woven with natural fibres and are multi-functional, ranging from carrying firewood to carrying babies. The word bilum in Tok Pisin means 'womb'.
